On September 13th, please join the Deschutes River Conservancy (DRC), Bank of the Cascades, local outfitters and businesses in a celebration of the Deschutes River and all that it provides us: clean water, fish, wildlife, vegetation, power, and beauty.

On this one day, A Day for the River, we hope to increase your appreciation of the river by providing an occasion to experience the entire river – from the headwaters in the Cascade Mountains to the mouth at the Columbia River. Partnering with local outfitters, Wanderlust Tours, Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe, Fly & Field Outfitters and Sun Country Tours, the DRC has coordinated a number of activities, offering you a chance to enjoy the river by fishing, canoeing, kayaking, or birding. All of these outfitters have agreed to substantially lower their normal rates for these tours and will donate all of the proceeds to the DRC in support of our mission to restore streamflow and improve water quality in the Deschutes Basin.

A free public afternoon event will take place near the Colorado Street Bridge at McKay Park in Bend. It will include a kayak & canoe demo day sponsored by Alder Creek Kayak & Canoe, fun kid’s activities sponsored by REI and others, wonderful food, local blue grass music, and a delightful beer brewed especially for the DRC by the Deschutes Brewery. Come out and see “Woody”, the big Deschutes Brewery Keg, at the A Day for the River. Thanks to the Deschutes Brewery, all of the proceeds from the beer sales will be donated in support of the DRC’s mission.

The DRC would like to thank all of our sponsors who have made this event possible:
