Dates: May 22 – 24, 2006

Location:
Kah Nee Ta Resort & Casino, located on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation in central Oregon.

Purpose: To enroll a broad array of Deschutes Basin stakeholders in a consensus process to develop a comprehensive water management plan.

What is it? The Water Summit is a conference designed to specifically discuss the goals and desired outcomes for water management in the Deschutes Basin. One of the main objectives of the conference is to communicate the findings of a number of comprehensive studies that focused on the following topics:
• Ecosystem Flows
• Measurement, Monitoring, and Evaluation Systems
• Water Conservation
• Impacts of Urbanization on Irrigable Lands & Districts
• Reservoir Optimization
• Municipal Water

Why should you attend? This is a consensus process and the hope is that all interested parties will play a role and be a part of determining the future of water management in the Deschutes Basin.

Who is presenting at this conference? A number of expert panels are being designed to discuss the following topics:
• Ecosystem Flows
• Measurement, Monitoring, and Evaluation Systems
• Impacts of Urbanization on Irrigable Lands & Districts
• Reservoir Optimization
• Groundwater Demand to 2025
• Water Conservation, Irrigation Districts & On Farm
• Reservoir Optimization
• Potential Water Management Scenarios & their Impacts

There will also be an opportunity for a few facilitated Water Management Scenario breakout sessions where questions and concerns will be documented. These questions and concerns will be addressed at the end of the conference.

Who else is attending? Stakeholders, agencies, water managers, elected officials, and organizations who are invested in the future of water management in the Deschutes Basin.

Who is organizing the Water Summit? The Deschutes Water Alliance Group

What does it cost to attend? The cost for the conference is $150 for three days. The DWA group is trying to subsidize the costs as much as possible to make it affordable for everyone to attend. The registration fee includes all meals. The special room rate at Kah Nee Ta is $75 a night.
