Water Use

Human activities have affected water resources in the upper Deschutes Basin in two ways. First, surface water regulation for irrigation has changed streamflow patterns. Second, diversions have reduced streamflows in the upper Deschutes Basin. Irrigated agriculture has consumed water, and seepage from canals has routed surface water to groundwater.
