Kayaking the Deschutes River near McKay Park
Lumber mills used to dominate the Deschutes River corridor upstream from the City of Bend. Private developers and the city have worked to improve river access within walking distance of downtown. Bend's McKay Park has become a popular put-in for kayakers, canoeists, and floaters. The Old Mill development, which appears in the background of this photo, stands on the fomer Brooks-Scanlon mill site.
