Water Banking

Water banks in the Deschutes Basin help water users meet their water needs at a low cost to people and the environment.

The DRC participates in two water banks:

1 - The Deschutes Water Alliance Water Bank assists water users in transferring existing water rights between different uses.

2 - The Groundwater Mitigation Bank restores streamflow and provides mitigation credits to new groundwater users.

3 - The Whychus Water Bank Feasibility Study explores opportunities for water banking to meet agricultural, municipal and environmental water needs in Whychus Creek, near Sisters, Oregon.
