An influx of water for thirsty farms A gush of irrigation water is diverted from the Deschutes River near Division and Third streets in Bend on Monday, marking a rite of spring in Central Oregon . The headgate is opened each spring, emptying water into a canal that feeds water to about 60,000 acres of farmland in Jefferson County.
