Central Oregon Irrigation District
Juniper Ridge Piping Project

In 2009, the Deschutes River Conservancy completed a project with Central Oregon Irrigation District to conserve water in a particularly leaky section of the Pilot Butte canal located near Juniper Ridge. Piping this section restored 20 cfs (12.6 million gallons of water per day) to the Deschutes River. Additionally, an accompanying five megawatt hydro-power plant will provide renewable energy to 2,500 households.

The Juniper Ridge Piping Project is just one in a series of conservation projects completed with Central Oregon Irrigation District totaling 25 cfs of streamflow restoration to the Deschutes River.
