Swalley Irrigation District Main Canal Piping and Hydro-Power Project

Completed in 2010, the Swalley Irrigation District Main Canal Piping and Hydro-Power Project restored 28 cfs (18 million gallons of water per day) to the Middle Deschutes River. The conserved water will improved streamflow and water quality for native redband trout in popular fishing area and the accompanying hydroelectric plant (shown below) will power 375 households with renewable energy.
