First Bend Oyster adventure race draws over 250

A field of 251, competing as relays and teams, took part Saturday in the inaugural Bend Oyster Off Road Adventure Race.
Teams competed in an array of “adventure” events, including paddling, mountain biking and running, along with beer tasting and identifying, solving secret codes, rolling kegs and slip-’n’-sliding.
The race, staged at the Deschutes Brewery on Southwest Simpson Avenue, was a fundraiser for the nonprofit Deschutes River Conservancy. The top fundraising team was the Oly Girls (Christina Fagernes, Nadine Pingel, Cherise Peters, Denise Collard), who raised $525.
