First Friday Gallery Walk — A number of exhibits are opening this week during First Friday Gallery Walk, held the First Friday of each month at galleries, cafes and art-friendly businesses in downtown Bend and the Old Mill District. Receptions take place from 5 to 8 or 9 p.m. Friday, depending on the space. Below are a few highlights:

Susan Luckey Higdon’s May exhibit at Tumalo Art Co., 450 SW Powerhouse Drive, in Bend, features her signature art for “Magic on the Upper Deschutes,” a 60-by-30-inch acrylic painting for Deschutes River Conservancy’s 2018 RiverFeast event. The artist will donate 25 percent of the proceeds from its sale to the Deschutes River Conservancy. This is Higdon’s 11th year creating work for RiverFeast, which takes place May 12.

Red Chair Gallery, 103 NW Oregon Ave., will feature new watercolors from Linda Swindle, Jacqueline Newbold and Sue Gomen-Honnell, along with hand-painted scarves by Swindle and jewelry by Newbold and Helen Bommarito.

Sage Custom Framing and Gallery will host the opening reception for “Fabric, Glass and Paper,” featuring the works of Jessica Layton and Becky Wanless.
