Notes from the Field – Local Pipe Manufacturer, KRAH

DRC staff recently visited the new KRAH pipe manufacturing plant in Prineville. KRAH makes custom high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe, which is used in irrigation modernization projects here in Central Oregon. Until recently, large pipes, like those now being made in Prineville, were only available in the US in steel, concrete, and sometimes fiberglass. Local pipe manufacturing saves millions of dollars in shipping costs and makes this large-diameter, high-pressure pipe locally accessible. Fun Fact: this facility can recycle 100% of the plastic used in the manufacturing process!
