2020 has been a difficult year for so many businesses and nonprofits. Despite these hardships, we are able to press on thanks to the generosity of foundations, local businesses and individual friends of the river. It’s with gratitude that we announce the recent investment Mirror Pond Solutions has made in our mission to restore flows and improve water quality. We thank them for making rivers a priority and providing a wonderful example of community giving.
For 25 years, the Deschutes River Conservancy has been bringing diverse voices together to solve the complex water challenges facing our watershed. Thanks to our long-term partnerships and the crucial support of our community, we’ve gotten a lot of work done. Through hard work and dedication, our local rivers and streams have more than 93,000 gallons per minute (208+ CFS) more flowing through them than they did in 1996.
We’ve enjoyed incredible community support over the years to ensure we can see sustainable change in our precious basin during our lifetimes. Together we are starting a process whose echoes will be felt by our children and grandchildren.
That’s why it’s so important that we seize the momentum currently building in Central Oregon. Foundational flow restoration goals have been laid out through the Habitat Conservation Plan and additional projects and partnerships will further enhance flows beyond the HCP.
Together we must do what whatever we can to keep Central Oregon’s rivers the special places we all love.
