Sisters Coffee Company supports Deschutes River Conservancy with new River Blend

Sisters, OR — Sisters Coffee Company, a local coffee roaster specializing in coffees sourced from ethical producers around the globe, is partnering with the Deschutes River Conservancy on an exclusive River Blend roast to support the local watershed.
For every bag of River Blend sold, $2 will go to the Deschutes River Conservancy, a nonprofit with a mission to restore streamflow and improve water quality in the Deschutes River Basin, the lifeblood of Central Oregon’s communities. Sisters Coffee operates along Whychus Creek, a treasured tributary within this watershed, making healthy rivers part of the family-run company’s everyday story.
The coffee will be available at sisterscoffee.com starting on Sunday, Sept. 27 (World Rivers Day) and at the Sisters Coffee Company cafes in Sisters, Bend and Portland beginning on Monday, Sept. 28.
“Having grown up in Central Oregon, I’ve spent countless summer evenings, weekend raft trips and autumn hikes along the Deschutes River,” said Jesse Durham, chief strategy officer of Sisters Coffee Company, who co-owns the company with her brothers, Jared and Justin Durham. “It holds a special place in my heart — and in the hearts of so many people who call this place home. I’m also married to a second-generation farmer from Madras, which has given me an even deeper appreciation for how vital the Deschutes River is to our local agriculture. Partnering with the Deschutes River Conservancy feels like a dream come true. I hope folks in our community will join us in supporting the river we all know and love by taking home a bag of River Blend.”
River Blend is a dark roast that comes from the Valle Verde cooperative in Peru, where coffee-producing families participate in the Todos al Agua “Water for All” program. Together, they’re returning cleaner water to their watershed and practicing sustainable farming practices. A cooperative of 481 coffee producers, Valle Verde’s operating values are to protect their community’s water resources, conserving the natural environment and building climate resilience in the Guayabamba Valley.
“This partnership reflects exactly what it takes to protect a river like the Deschutes: local businesses and community members showing up together to create the future we all want to see,” said Kate Fitzpatrick, executive director of the Deschutes River Conservancy. “We are grateful to Sisters Coffee Company for building that support into something as simple, and delicious, as a bag of coffee. We hope everyone who picks up a bag of River Blend feels connected to the rivers and streams this coffee and this community help protect.”
