The DRC mourns the loss of a dear friend and founding partner, Jody Calica

We at the DRC and all who care about the health of the rivers in the Deschutes Basin are profoundly saddened to learn of the passing of our friend Jody Calica.

As a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation of Oregon, Jody was well known for his involvement and leadership in natural resource stewardship throughout our region.

Over the years Jody was a champion on behalf of river restoration. His involvement and vision in this area lead to the formation of this organization in the early 1990s.

Jody was unique in his ability to bring people of various backgrounds together and inspire us to work together to improve instream health of our treasured rivers.

While we mourn the loss of this gentle soul, we will be forever grateful for having known him and the river is healthier because of him.
